Try Me On Trial

A girl went looking for
The home she never had
A boy from a northern state
The town that drove him mad

He, a dreamer
Went lonely on his way
And as he drove he never dreamed
She was leaving from Iowa to L.A.

- His hope would hang in the words he sang -

Try me on trial
Hide my face for I am shy
But would you stay with me a while?
I'm breathless as a sigh

By chance, their meeting
Paintings filled their eyes
His glance, her fleeting smile
then much to their surprise
Alone, they found themselves
Tangled up in arms
A camera played as love was made
To laughter
They laid out their charms

- In a bargain plea he cried -

Try me on trial
Hear my case, for I might die
If you won't stay with me a while
Breathless as a sigh, and reckless
Two become one
Above and under, unencumbered
Love has begun
Restless as a bride

But they'd been broken before
Now freedom seemed right
Never put trust in what's in store
But when love would come to light
They never wanted anything more

- In their bargain plea they cried -

Try me on trial
hear my case, for I might die
If you wont stay with me a while
Breathless as a sigh, and reckless
Two become one
Above and under, unencumbered
Love has begun
Restless as a bride
